Impacts of Shared Bicycle Configuration Location on Bus Travel Competitiveness

In order to reduce the carbon emission scale of the transportation industry and improve the competitiveness of public transportation, the configuration contribution coefficient of shared bicycle was defined. The coefficient could evaluate the impact of allocation points of shared bicycles on bus travel. The sharing rates of shared bicycle, "shared bicycle plus bus" and private car were calculated under the OD travel chain through Logit model. The impact of travel distance and shared bicycle configuration coefficient on bus travel competitiveness was explored. The results showed as followed: due to the charge for use and additional time required to get and return the shared bicycle, there was a critical value for the configuration contribution coefficient of shared bicycle, when it was higher than this value, configuring shared bicycle could have a positive impact on bus travel competitiveness; the critical value of configuration contribution coefficient was negatively correlated with the end connection distance and travel distance; due to the advantages of private cars in the long-distance travel, when the connection distance was 1km, to maintain the sharing rate of "shared bicycle plus bus", the configuration contribution coefficient of shared bicycle needed to be increased by about 8.5% for every 1km increase in travel distance. The research shows that the rational configuration of shared bicycles can improve the bus sharing rate and expand the bus travel scope.
