Travel Characteristics of Car-Sharing Users Based on RP/SP Survey: A Case Study of Chengdu

Abstract

In order to improve the service level and sustainable development ability of car-sharing, RP(Revealed Preference) survey data and SP(Stated Preference) survey data including users′ social and economic attributes, traffic attributes, travel situation and travel choice in the hypothetical situation were collected through questionnaire survey taking users of car-sharing as the object of interview. Based on the statistical analysis of the survey data, the basic travel characteristics and factors influencing travel behavior of car sharing users were obtained. The results showed that male users were significantly more than female users in car sharing industry, users were relatively young and highly educated, and 48% of the users had driving experience less than 2 years; car sharing was widely used in different scenarios, and 68% of users travelled with multiple passengers; convenience for picking up and return and cost were the two factors that users were most concerned about, and the charging mode directly affected users' choice of travel time; car sharing had attracted some online taxi-hailing users and private car users, and there was an obvious competitive relationship between car-sharing and online taxi-hailing in the travel market.
