Multiple Attribute Decision-Making Model for Phasing-Sequence of One-Phase-One-Approach under Mixed Traffic Condition

Abstract

For signalized intersection of urban road under signal design mode of one-phase-one-approach, a phasing-sequence method based on multiple attribute decision-making theory was proposed to use the time resource effectively and reduce the conflict between motor vehicles and slow mode transportation. Firstly, by using the principle of pedestrian twice crossing street, the pedestrian nested signal phase was designed without changing the main phase of motor vehicles. Then, the phasing-sequence multiple attribute decision-making model was provided to get the best plan of signal phase. Finally, the isolated intersection between Xiuxiang Road and Xiuling Road in Nanning City was carried out simulation via software Vissim5.0. The phasing-sequence plans of non-nested signal phase and nested signal phase were compared. The result shows that the proposed method is feasible and effective. The vehicle average delay and pedestrian average delay of the best plan of signal phase by this method are decreased by 60.0% and 31.1%, the intersection capacity and crosswalk capacity are increased by 2.4% and 14.7%, compared with the non-nested signal phase. It can effectively improve the traffic efficiency of intersections.
